Is France’s soccer empire in ruins?

The world watched with awe and derision this past week as the French national soccer team, boasting a roster of star players, imploded on and off the field at the World Cup. In case you missed it, here's the play-by-play.

At half-time during the France-Mexico game, striker Nicolas Anelka insulted French coach Raymond Domenech in the locker room.

Such words, of course, are heard frequently in the half-time locker rooms of losing teams the world over - though not so often spoken to a coach's face. They don't, however, usually decorate the covers of newspapers.

    Well, well, well.... as Thierry Henry and Evra expressed their opinions on TV here in France of the disaster they evoked no racisme but brought up the problem of bad journalists! Here is a perfect example, as you want to jump on the old racist idea for the disintegration of a team that has succeeded in the past with a multiracial group. Henry brought up a fact of age problems, where the youngers didn't want the oldtimers to shine !...that is not racist unless we consider exclusion for age as racisme. What is racist is for example the Algerians in France who set fire to cars and broke windows because their team lost and it wasn't to France! So let's clean up the journalism and let the players play.
